Why Am I Suspended?
If you are reading this page, your Ricardo's World account has been suspended or restricted in some way. This page explains, in full detail, the most common reasons an account is suspended, how we determine the severity of a violation, what each suspension status means, how our review process actually works, and how you can request a review of the decision.
Please read through the relevant sections below before contacting support, as most account status questions are already answered here. Use the sidebar on the left, or the menu below on mobile, to jump straight to the section you need.
Common Reasons For Suspension
Suspensions are not random and are never applied without cause. Every suspension is tied to a specific event or pattern of activity detected on your account, either automatically by our systems or manually by our trust and safety team after a report. The most common reasons are listed below, though this list is not exhaustive.
Unusual login patterns, automated requests, repeated access from flagged networks, or behavior that resembles bot activity rather than a real user.
Any action that breaches our Terms of Service, including harassment, spam, abuse of the request system, or attempting to bypass platform restrictions.
Providing a false name, a fabricated identity, or an address you are not legally permitted to use during sign-up or account verification.
Verified reports that you have scammed, defrauded, or deceived other users. Confirmed cases are treated with the highest severity.
Signs that your account credentials were compromised, shared, or used by someone other than the verified account holder.
Creating multiple accounts to evade a prior suspension, manipulate platform features, or abuse features tied to a single identity.
Any other behavior our team determines puts other users, our staff, or the integrity of the platform at risk.
How Severity Is Determined
Not every violation is treated the same way. When a report or automated flag comes in, our team looks at several factors before deciding what action to take: the nature of the violation, whether it was a one-time mistake or a repeated pattern, whether other users were harmed, the strength of the available evidence, and whether the activity has been independently verified.
Severity Levels We Apply
-
1
False or misleading account information, such as a fake name or an address you cannot legally use, follows a special process. You may request a temporary unsuspension to correct your information, explained in full in the Identity Correction section below.
-
2
Unauthorized access or account compromise is reviewed on a case-by-case basis, since the violation was not committed by the verified account holder. Contact support so we can help you secure your account.
-
3
Every other violation, including Terms of Service breaches, suspicious activity, duplicate accounts, and verified scam or fraud activity, results in a permanent suspension from the moment it is applied.
-
4
Verified scam or fraud activity is treated as a zero-tolerance violation. If a report against your account has been investigated and confirmed, your suspension is extremely unlikely to be reversed on appeal.
Suspension Statuses Explained
Your account will fall into one of the following statuses. You can usually find your current status in the suspension notice sent to your registered email address, along with a reference number for your case.
-
Permanent
Permanent Suspension This is the default status for any suspension. Your account remains permanently disabled unless a successful appeal proves the suspension was not justified, or, for false information cases only, you complete identity correction within the allowed window.
-
Correction Window
Temporary Unsuspension For Correction Granted only for false or misleading account information, after you request it from our support team. You get 7 days to update your information. If you do not complete this within 7 days, your account is suspended again, this time permanently.
-
Under Review
Under Review A report or automated flag is being investigated by our trust and safety team. No final decision has been made yet, and access remains restricted while we review the available evidence.
How We Review Accounts
When an account is flagged, whether by an automated system or a report from another user, it goes through a structured review process before any suspension is finalized. We do not take this lightly, since a suspension affects your access to the service.
Automated flags are checked by a member of our team before action is taken whenever possible, rather than relying purely on automation. Reports involving alleged scams or fraud are independently verified using available evidence, such as transaction records and communication logs, before a permanent suspension is applied. We do not permanently suspend an account on the basis of an unverified accusation alone.
Once a decision is made, you will receive an email to your registered address explaining the suspension status and, where applicable, the general reason for the action and any next steps available to you.
Who Reviews Your Case
Cases are handled by our trust and safety team, a dedicated group responsible for investigating reports, reviewing automated flags, and making final decisions on account status. More serious cases, including suspected fraud, are escalated to senior reviewers before any permanent action is taken.
Evidence We Use In A Review
We base our decisions on concrete evidence rather than assumptions. Depending on the type of report, the evidence we consider can include the following.
Login history, IP and network patterns, device information, and request frequency.
Messages, support tickets, or comments related to the reported behavior.
Information submitted during sign-up or verification, checked for accuracy and legitimacy.
Reports submitted by other users, cross-checked against available evidence before action is taken.
Any previous warnings, suspensions, or violations associated with your account.
Submitting An Appeal
Every suspension is permanent by default. If you believe your account was suspended in error, you can submit an appeal requesting a review of the decision. Appeals are read by a real person on our team, not resolved automatically, and every appeal receives a written response. Your account is only reinstated if the appeal shows the original suspension was not justified.
Have any relevant information ready, such as proof of identity or context around the activity that triggered the suspension. Appeals with supporting evidence are reviewed faster and are more likely to result in a resolution.
Please include your account email address and, if you have one, the reference number from your suspension notice. This helps locate your case quickly.
Please note that appeals for confirmed and independently verified scam or fraud cases are unlikely to change the outcome of a permanent suspension.
Identity Correction Requests Are Different
If your account was suspended because you provided false information, such as a fake name or an address you are not legally permitted to use, this is not handled through the standard appeal above. Instead, you can request a temporary unsuspension specifically to update your information.
-
1
Email the owner requesting a temporary unsuspension to correct your account information.
-
2
Once approved, your account is reactivated and the 7 day correction window begins immediately.
-
3
Update your name, address, or any other information that was found to be false, so it is accurate and something you are legally permitted to use.
-
4
If the correction is not completed within 7 days, the account is automatically suspended again, and this second suspension is permanent with no further correction window offered.
What Happens After You Appeal
Once your appeal is submitted, it moves through the following stages. Response times can vary depending on the complexity of the case and the volume of appeals being processed.
You will receive an automatic confirmation that your appeal has been received and logged under your account.
Your case is reassigned to a member of our trust and safety team who was not involved in the original decision, wherever possible.
Any new information you provided is reviewed alongside the original evidence used to make the decision.
You will receive a written response confirming whether the suspension has been lifted, modified, or upheld, along with the reasoning behind the outcome.
Avoiding Future Suspensions
If your account is reinstated, the following will help you avoid future restrictions and keep your account in good standing.
-
1
Use your real name and a legitimate, legally valid address on your account at all times. This is the only violation with a built-in correction window, so getting it right avoids any risk at all.
-
2
Do not share your login credentials with anyone else, and use a strong, unique password.
-
3
Read and follow our Terms of Service, particularly around interactions with other users.
-
4
Never attempt to deceive, defraud, or scam another user of Ricardo's World for any reason, under any circumstances. This is a zero-tolerance, permanent violation with no realistic path back.
-
5
Avoid creating multiple accounts, and contact support directly if you are having trouble accessing your existing one.
